Chris Piscione Instructor for Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

Chris Piscione

I found Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in 2008, when a former wrestling teammate (Brian Viglione) invited me for a class. I began competing after just six weeks of training, and the "Smooth Art" quickly became my greatest passion.

I compete once a month and have taken every opportunity I can to train and learn. I come from a family of teachers and coaches, and my goal is to follow this path and share my knowledge and experience with others.

I have been lucky to travel all over the US, to Brazil, and Europe because of Jiu-Jitsu, and it has positively benefited every different area of my life. Jiu-Jitsu has set me down a path I would otherwise not find, and I am grateful for that.

11/22/13-Promoted to Brown Belt under Renan Borges.

I grew up in Chelmsford MA where I was always active in athletics. Both my parents were Physical Education teachers and my father was a wrestling and football coach. I started wrestling when I was 6 years old and competed straight through college.

After collegiate wrestling there were no longer many opportunities to compete. I heard that Jiu-Jitsu was a form of grappling and that there were many opportunities available to compete in this "gentle art." I started attending classes and immediately fell in love with Jiu-Jitsu. I have been practicing ever since.

My goal is to approach every class with high energy and enthusiasm in a comfortable learning environment. I would like to promote the sport and share my knowledge of Jiu-Jitsu, and 26 years of wrestling with anyone who would like to learn.

Renan began training Jiu Jitsu in 2002 at Academia Iron with Manuel Joao and Taedes Mendonca. While living in Brazil, he regularly took part in competitions all over the country and won multiple tournaments such as the World Championship as a blue belt and purple belt, the Brazilian Cup, and a myriad of state championships.

In 2007, Renan moved to Boston, USA. In Boston Renan soon found his current school, Combined Martial Arts Academy, in Everett, Massachusetts. This school represents Brazilian Top Team. Since then Renan has been training under instructors Joao Amaral and Daniel Gazone. In 2008 he received his black belt. Now Renan is not only an avid student but also an instructor to both children and adults.
